The Summer!

The Band completed a successful July programme as members performed at four summer events enhanced by the recent good weather!

First in the diary was a visit to West Peckham to perform an arena display and enjoy stalls and refreshments at the local Parish summer fair.  Then, ahead of a busy Sunday at the Kent County Show, four senior members, Harry, Matt, Nat & Sam, headed to Leigh to lead the 7th Tonbridge Scouts Centenary Parade receiving great feedback from the organiser.

Re-polished and rested they joined the rest of the Band at Detling Showground to entertain visitors at the prestigious Kent County Show with flash mobs, a static bandstand concert and an arena performance in front of dignitaries and guests to bring the 2013 Show to a close.

Finally, if that was not enough fun for one month, members returned to Detling a fortnight later to the more informal setting of the Scouts & Guides Kent International Jamboree where they were able to visit and perform in different parts of the Camp, then lead 6,500 participants to their Opening Ceremony amidst the wonderful atmosphere that was KIJ ’13.

A well-earned rest is now being had by all as they look forward to a competitive start to the Autumn, participating with other youth marching bands at Hornchurch.
