The band features a range of instruments including cornets, horns, euphoniums, trombones, clarinets, saxophones, flutes, cymbals, marching bells and drums. Many start with no previous musical experience, but within a very short time are performing at events all over the South East and further afield.
At your first practice you’ll be introduced to all of the instruments we have to offer. You can choose to learn a completely new instrument that we will provide free of charge, or join with your existing instrument and jump right into one of our sections.
Our music consists of a wide range of genres, from traditional military marches to popular music – like Uptown Funk – and film music. As we are primarily a marching band, most of our performances take place on the march.
Practices are held at Hayesbrook School, Tonbridge on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm (8.30pm for younger members) and on Saturday mornings from 9am to 11am.
Being in the band gives you unique opportunities to develop your social skills, make awesome new friends and memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Some of our more prestigious events include leading the National St. George’s Day Parade at Windsor Castle, being the first band to ever march in Disney Studios at Disneyland Paris, being on TV at the London New Year’s Day Parade and at the Lord Mayor’s Show, the ceremony of remembrance at the Menin Gate in Belgium and other foreign trips to France, Germany, Denmark, and Ireland.
